East Midlands
Chairman Biography
Gini started in financial services quite by accident, having taken a holiday job at the tender age of 17, at a local firm of IFAs. After completing her Business Studies course a couple of years later, she then joined Hambro Life for a brief spell, before starting her own business at the age of 23. Having built up a successful practice, and undertaken a number of exams along the way, she then merged with another local firm, before finally selling out the general insurance side in 2000. The IFA practice continued, until, a number of months later, she met Shane Mullins. Having previously spoken to two other firms to consider options for an exit route for her and her business partner, the result was Gini joining Fiscal Engineers in September 2004. Recognising the firm’s business model and the way the industry would look in the future was critical in her decision to move. Fiscal Engineers continues to be a leading wealth management firm in the Midlands, having won several awards from Citywire’s New Model Adviser, as well as Nottinghamshire Small Business of the Year in 2008. The latest accolade is Fiscal Engineers winning the David Norton Award for Excellence in October 2011.
Having attained CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM professional status in 2006, Gini is a firm believer in holistic Financial Planning for clients, incorporating cashflow modelling, as well as forging very close, strong relationships with clients.
Gini is a keen cook, an avid reader and an extremely bad golfer!
Introduction to the branch
We have been very fortunate in securing Transact as our main corporate sponsor for the year, as well as sponsorship from a number of our other speakers. This is enabling us to hold the meetings at such an attractive venue, with easy access from the surrounding areas and with free parking. Being newly located south of Nottingham, we are hoping to attract not only you, the existing members, but new prospective members too, as well as inviting paraplanners and all those involved in the financial planning process. We are fortunate to have some very interesting and informative speakers and I would encourage all of you to be active participants in the meetings and to attend as many as possible.
The theme is ‘Talks at Tea Time’ (the letter ‘T’ being our theme throughout, thanks to Transact), as holding the meetings a little later in the day enables you to do almost a full day’s work beforehand. It also gives you the opportunity for a little networking both before and after the meetings. The last two dates in the year’s programme will be at lunchtime, including a Christmas lunch for the final date on 7th December. For this event, there will be a little light entertainment included for added incentive! Please do support us in our first year of the new Nottingham location and I look forward to meeting you all. As always, CPD certificates are available to all member attendees.
All meetings will take place at:The Carriage Hall, Plumtree, Nottinghamshire. NG12 5NA
