Barry Horner is the CEO of Paradigm Norton Financial Planning and is the President of the Institute of Financial Planning.
Barry formed Paradigm Norton in 2001 and together with the Paradigm team has built one of the foremost respected UK Financial Planning practices offering comprehensive Financial Planning advice to private clients and charities.
In 2007 Paradigm Norton won the Citywire NMA South West award, recognising it as the top Financial Planning firm in the South West.

Jane Wheeler

Responsibility: Immediate Past President
Jane Wheeler is principal of Direction Financial Planning LLP, a fee-based Financial Planning practice based in Taunton, Somerset. She has over 20 years of experience in advising clients across the spectrum of financial matters. She is a specialist in comprehensive Financial Planning and in planning for retirement in particular.
Jane's passionate belief in real Financial Planning has led to her involvement with the IFP and her interest in the development of the profession, over many years. She has published a book for consumers entitled 'Sorted! DIY Financial Planning' which is designed to help people identify their real objectives and provides a step by step guide to organising their financial affairs so that they can achieve their goals.

Marlene Shalton

Responsibility: Vice President
Marlene has been Managing Director of Chambers Morgan James since 1991 and since that time has built up a profitable fee-based practice, which assists people to achieve their lifetime goals. She sold her practice in November 2007 to the Thinc group and is now part of the Wealth Management division. She writes regularly for the press with appearances on TV and radio.
Marlene has been a CFP and FIFP for many years and has served on the Board for the past 8 years. She is a passionate believer that Financial Planning should be recognised as a profession and that cash flow modelling should be the foundation for any form of advice and planning. She looks forward to her time as Vice President in preparation for the important role as President in two years’ time and how she can help spearhead Financial Planning into the public arena.

Jeremy Deedes

Jeremy Deedes is a director of Yorkshire-based Planning for Life Ltd. Jeremy has been a member of the IFP since 1996 and qualified as a CFP in 1999. He was appointed to the Board in October 2006. He sits on the Membership sub-committee and helps the Board formulate its polices and activities for expanding the membership and profile of the IFP.

Mark Taylor

Mark is a CFP Professional, Chartered Financial Planner and Director with Platinum Portfolios Limited a firm offering comprehensive financial planning and advice, based in Eastbourne.
Mark started his career in banking before moving on to the insurance industry and thereafter financial services. ‘I spent some time working in different areas of the financial sector before discovering financial planning and the benefits it brings to individuals. After qualifying as a CFP Professional in 2000 I have not looked back’.
Mark is an advocate for professional development and is keen to improve standards within financial services. ‘Continuous education is essential for anyone who would like to be regarded as a professional within their chosen field. The recently updated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program is an example of the importance the Institute places on professional and ethical standards’.

Alan Dick is the founding principal of Forty Two a fee based Wealth Management practice. Alan is a Financial Planner of almost 15 years experience and is committed to raising the standards of Financial Planning in the UK. He is both a Chartered Financial Planner and CFP professional.
He contributes regularly to the Financial Times, The Scotsman, The Herald and other respected publications, is a regular speaker at conferences and is regarded by his peers as a specialist, combining independent portfolio management with advanced financial planning. "One of the things I value most in my career is the willingness of IFP members to openly share ideas, opinions and even 'secrets'. I would like to do my bit to continue this fine tradition".

Phil Billingham

Responsibility: FSA Liaison & Disciplinary
Phil joined the Financial Services profession in 1982. He has worked throughout the profession, mainly within the IFA sector in the UK, but also within the USA and South African Financial Planning professions. In 2005, he was voted one of the UK’s Top 50 most influential IFAs.
Phil now runs Perception Support Limited, with Shannon Currie, which provides Practice Management and Training support to Financial Advisers and Wealth Managers. Phil was a Director of Sofa for four years, and understands the challenges faced by professional bodies.
“This is a challenging time for advisers and planners, and the changes taking place in our profession are greater than in any other time. The IFP is uniquely placed as a professional body to influence and inform these changes, and I believe I can add substantial experience to the IFP during this period”.

Neil Bailey

Neil is a director of Fortitude Financial Planning Ltd and has provided comprehensive Financial Planning to private clients since 1997. He joined the IFP in the same year and, from the outset, was actively involved in the development of the CFP training program. Neil chaired the Northern Home Counties branch between 2003 & 2007.
“The experience gained, both in my own business and from mentoring other Planners, has given me a clear understanding of the challenges that face individuals and firms who are seeking to develop a profitable and effective Financial Planning business. I believe that serving on the board will provide the opportunity for me to use this experience to help achieve the IFP mission to build and maintain the profession of Financial Planning for the benefit of consumers in the UK”.

Keri Carter

Responsibility:
Keri works at Broadway Financial Planning as a Financial Planner. She was awarded "Branch Chairman of the Year" in 2005 and was also the recipient of the "Tony Sellon Award" for her contribution to the IFP in Autumn 2006.
Keri is a Branch Chairman of the Cotswold IFP Branch and was Chairman for the IFP Annual Conference and Exhibition in 2008, held at Celtic Manor. She is also a keen skier, and enjoys travelling.

Rebecca Taylor

Becky is Managing Director of Dunham Financial Services a Financial Planning business based in Peterborough. In 2007 they were awarded Citywire NMA winner for the East of England.
Becky is a strong believer in Lifetime Financial Planning and feels that this process is necessary to give advice based on fact instead of guesswork. She is both a Certified and Chartered Financial Planner and also a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Planning. Becky was awarded “Branch Chairman of the Year” in 2008.
