Barry Horner

Responsibility: President
Barry Horner is the CEO of Paradigm Norton Financial Planning and is the President of the Institute of Financial Planning.
Barry formed Paradigm Norton in 2001 and together with the Paradigm team has built one of the foremost respected UK Financial Planning practices offering comprehensive Financial Planning advice to private clients and charities.
In 2007 Paradigm Norton won the Citywire NMA South West award, recognising it as the top Financial Planning firm in the South West.

Marlene Shalton

Responsibility: Vice President
Marlene was formerly Managing Director of Chambers Morgan James based in Cardiff. Since 1991 she has worked to build up a profitable fee-based practice, which assists clients in achieving their lifetime goals. In November 2007, CMJ became part of the Bluefin group, which has one of the largest wealth management divisions in the UK. Marlene writes regularly for the press with appearances on TV and radio. Marlene has been a CFP professional and FIFP for many years and has served on the Board for the past 9 years. She is a passionate believer that Financial Planning should be recognised as a profession and that cash flow modelling should be the foundation for any form of advice and planning. She is working hard as Vice President preparing for taking over the important role as President in 2010 and also helping to spearhead Financial Planning into the public arena.

Jeremy Deedes

Responsibility: Membership Services
Jeremy Deedes is a director of Yorkshire-based Planning for Life Ltd. Jeremy has been a member of the IFP since 1996 and qualified as a CFP professional in 1999. He was appointed to the Board in October 2006. He sits on the Membership sub-committee and helps the Board formulate its polices and activities for expanding the membership and profile of the IFP.

Alan Dick

Alan Dick is the founding principal of Forty Two a fee based Wealth Management practice. Alan is a Financial Planner of almost 15 years experience and is committed to raising the standards of Financial Planning in the UK. He is both a Chartered Financial Planner and CFP professional.
He contributes regularly to the Financial Times, The Scotsman, The Herald and other respected publications, is a regular speaker at conferences and is regarded by his peers as a specialist, combining independent portfolio management with advanced Financial Planning. "One of the things I value most in my career is the willingness of IFP members to openly share ideas, opinions and even 'secrets'. I would like to do my bit to continue this fine tradition".

Phil Billingham
CFP
Responsibility: FSA Liaison & Disciplinary
Phil joined the Financial Services profession in 1982, and since then has worked within the IFA sector in the UK, as well as in the USA and South African Financial Planning professions. In 2005, he was voted one of the UK’s Top 50 most influential IFAs.
Having run his own IFA support consultancy for over 10 years, Phil now works as a Strategy Consultant with threesixty services LLP, in which role he provides Practice Management support to Financial Planning, Advisory and Wealth Management firms.
Amongst other board duties, Phil is part of the FPSB taskforce on Regulation, and has spoken in both South Africa and the USA on Regulatory and Practice Management issues.

Neil Bailey

Responsibility: Education
Neil is a director of Fortitude Financial Planning Ltd and has provided comprehensive Financial Planning to private clients since 1997. He joined the IFP in the same year and, from the outset, was actively involved in the development of the CFP training program. Neil chaired the Northern Home Counties branch between 2003 & 2007.
“The experience gained, both in my own business and from mentoring other Planners, has given me a clear understanding of the challenges that face individuals and firms who are seeking to develop a profitable and effective Financial Planning business. I believe that serving on the board will provide the opportunity for me to use this experience to help achieve the IFP mission to build and maintain the profession of Financial Planning for the benefit of consumers in the UK”.

Keri Carter

Responsibility: Membership and Conference Committee
Keri works at Broadway Financial Planning as a Financial Planner. She was awarded "Branch Chairman of the Year" in 2005 and was also the recipient of the "Tony Sellon Award" for her contribution to the IFP in Autumn 2006.
Keri is a Branch Chairman of the Cotswold IFP Branch and was Chairman for the IFP Annual Conference and Exhibition in 2008, held at Celtic Manor. She is also a keen skier, and enjoys travelling.

Rebecca Taylor

Responsibility: Membership and Branches
Becky is Managing Director of Dunham Financial Services a Financial Planning business based in Peterborough. In 2007 they were awarded Citywire NMA winner for the East of England.
Becky is a strong believer in Lifetime Financial Planning and feels that this process is necessary to give advice based on fact instead of guesswork. She is both a Certified and Chartered Financial Planner and also a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Planning. Becky was awarded “Branch Chairman of the Year” in 2008.

Brian Sweeney

Responsibility: Education
Brian is Managing Director of Babecs Consultancy Ltd., and CEO of The Financial Planning Training Company Ltd. These organizations provide a range of specialist consulting and training services to entrepreneurs and business owners who wish to transform their business to a comprehensive/holistic Financial Planning model.
Brian’s business background has been predominantly involved in financial services since joining Abbey Life in 1985 as a sales representative. Since then he has held various senior management positions with a number of national, international and global organisations where he has been responsible for sales and marketing, along with strategic planning and business development. In 2004 he qualified as a Certified Financial Planner professional. Brian was Director of Education at the IFP for several years and is particularly interested in developing professional qualifications for the Financial Planning community.

Bruce Wilson

Responsibility:
Bruce Wilson is founder Managing Director of Helm Godfrey Partners Limited since its inception in 1999. Helm Godfrey was in 2008, Money Marketing’s IFA of the Year and also Financial Adviser’s Large IFA of the Year.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Planning and a Chartered Accountant.
His interest is in making a difference in his clients’ lives by putting their lives at the heart of the Financial Planning process rather than their money. This focus on what they want to be, do and have in their lives drives the conversation around their money rather than the other way round. It opens up all kinds of possibilities for their lives.
Before joining the financial services industry (now nearly a profession) 24 years ago, he was financial and administrative director of an alternative health charity where he taught yoga and studied acupuncture and shiatsu.
