David Norton Building Excellence Award

What is the award?

Launched in 2008, the prestigious David Norton “Building Excellence” Award 2010 is now open to applications from all Financial Planning firms, including non members of IFP.

The award was launched by the IFP to remember the significant contribution made by Norton, a former Chairman and President of the IFP, to the development of the Financial Planning profession in the UK. It seeks to uncover good Financial Planning businesses which have the potential to become great ones.

The winning firm must be able to clearly demonstrate that it is committed to "true" Financial Planning, that it has adopted (or is moving towards) a fee-based remuneration system, and has an exciting and well thought-out business plan. The winner will not be the 'perfect practice' but rather a developing one, which has unique features, shows commitment to comprehensive Financial Planning, and yet is still in need of help and mentoring in certain key areas of business development, for example such as recruitment, client segmentation, defining their service, marketing etc.

What are the prizes?

The prizes for the winning firm are significant, having a value in excess of £15,000. As well as the trophy and the kudos of winning, the winner will benefit from:

    * 10 Days Mentoring for your firm from Brett Davidson, FP Advance
    * An Investor in Customers Assessment and Survey for your firm
    * “New Model Adviser” Profile and Feature
    * Financial Planner Magazine Profile

The Panel of Judges

    * Steve Gazzard, IFP Director of Operations,
    * Brett Davidson, Chief Executive FP Advance
    * Barry Horner CFPCM President of IFP and CEO Paradigm Norton

Each application is judged by all three judges. The winner of the 2010 award will be the Financial Planning firm which the judges believe offers the most outstanding potential for the future. Their decisions are final.
