CFP CERTIFICATION HOME STUDY

gThe 12-week home study is not a course. Instead candidates will produce a Financial Plan within 12 weeks, based on a case study, which is provided by the Institute of Financial Planning. Candidates will need to integrate an average of 70 hours of coursework into their daily lives.

Programme

Candidates will produce a Financial Plan based on a case study that is provided by the Institute of Financial Planning. It is strongly recommended that you order one of the CFP certification tuition manuals to guide you through the process. This not only explains the procedure, but also highlights the standards required for a Financial Plan. There is also an example case study and model answer.
Once you have completed your Financial Plan it will be assessed against the CFP certification standards by two assessors and should take approximately 6 – 8 weeks. They will either pass the plan or provide feedback on which parts of the plan need to be clarified or improved. You have a total of three chances to pass the assessment using your chosen case study. The first submission counts as one entry. A response to the feedback is your second attempt and you have one further attempt after this. If, after the third attempt, your plan fails to pass, a new case study will have to be selected for you to produce a fresh plan.

Entry Requirements

Please refer to the CFP Entry Requirements.
