The Institute of Financial Planning is the UK affiliate member of Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB). Worldwide there are over 138,000 individuals who have been certified to use the CFPCM, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM 
trademarks.
FPSB exists to:
- promote the professionalism of individuals and organisations offering personal Financial Planning services
- ensure that such services are offered in an ethical and competent manner throughout the world.
To join FPSB, an organisation must make a commitment to adopt rigorous standards of education, continuing professional development and ethical behaviour. Organisations that meet and maintain FPSB's criteria are authorised to administer the CFPCM certification programme on behalf of FPSB in a country or region. The Institute of Financial Planning is the marks licensing authority in the UK.

CFPCM, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM and CFP logo are certification marks owned outside the U.S. by Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. Institute of Financial Planning is the marks licensing authority for the CFP marks in the United Kingdom, through agreement with FPSB.
